NOOR Studio was founded by Alexander Kravtsov — a self-taught glass artist from Moscow, now based in Dubai.
Alexander came to stained glass not through a classroom, but through wonder. ‘I just loved watching sunlight become art,’ he says. ‘The moment light passes through coloured glass, something miraculous happens — colour, geometry, and light all become one thing. I wanted to learn how to make that happen.’
Self-taught and driven by curiosity, Alexander studied the craft through practice, experimentation, and a deep fascination with Islamic geometric patterns — some of the most complex and beautiful decorative systems ever devised. Dubai, with its intersection of ancient Arab craft traditions and bold contemporary architecture, felt like the natural place to build a studio.
NOOR — meaning light in Arabic — is both the name of the studio and its purpose.
تأسست نور ستوديو على يد ألكسندر كرافتسوف — فنان زجاج معلِّم نفسه، من موسكو، ومقيم حالياً في دبي.
لم يأتِ ألكسندر إلى فن الزجاج الملوّن عبر قاعة دراسية، بل من خلال الدهشة. يقول: «أحببت مشاهدة ضوء الشمس وهو يتحوّل إلى فن. في اللحظة التي يعبر فيها الضوء الزجاج الملوّن، يحدث شيء مدهش — اللون والهندسة والضوء تصبح شيئاً واحداً. أردت أن أتعلم كيف أصنع ذلك.»
تعلّم ألكسندر الحرفة بنفسه من خلال الممارسة والتجريب، وشغف عميق بالأنماط الهندسية الإسلامية — إحدى أكثر الأنظمة الزخرفية تعقيداً وجمالاً في التاريخ. دبي، بتقاطعها بين تقاليد الحرف العربية العريقة والعمارة المعاصرة الجريئة، بدت المكان الطبيعي لبناء أتيليه.
نور — التي تعني الضوء — هي اسم الأتيليه وغايته في آنٍ واحد.

- We start with a conversation about your space, light and ideas.

- Then we create sketches and colour studies tailored to your interior.

- Once the design is approved, we handcraft the glass panel in our studio.

- Finally, we coordinate installation so the piece sits perfectly in its place.
